How to Fish Boss Guide: Spider Crab, Giant Piranha, Blue Shark, and Pufferfish

Beat every major boss in How to Fish with safe, repeatable tactics. Includes lure setup, attack patterns, and what to hand in for progression.
Boss fight basics
Every boss in How to Fish has a white escape bar under its health pool. If the bar empties, the boss flees and the fight resets. Bring the correct lure, clear adds when they spawn, and stay close enough that the boss does not despawn. Most bosses are stunned after a missed charged attack, giving you a damage window.
Spider Crab (Lighthouse)
The first boss is also the easiest. Buy a Beer Can and feed it to the Lighthouse Keeper to receive the Empty Beer Can lure. Cast near the Lighthouse to summon the Spider Crab. Bait it into a charged attack, sidestep, then hit it two to four times while it is stunned. Do not chase it too far or it will jump. After it dies, feed the meat to the Lighthouse Keeper for the boat keys.
Giant Piranha (Forest Island)
On Forest Island, feed three leeches to the lady by the lake to receive a modified lure. Cast it to summon the Giant Piranha. The boss spawns minions; kill them first because they are hard to dodge and chip away at your health. Once the adds are down, focus fire on the main piranha. Return its skeleton to the lady for the Desert Island coordinates.
Blue Shark (Desert Island)
Use the Standard Lure on Desert Island to bring out the Blue Shark. Its main attack is a spiral charge. Sidestep or backpedal during the spiral, then attack during the recovery. Defeating it activates the Grill and prompts the nearby NPC to hand you a lighter, unlocking cooked-fish multipliers.
Pufferfish (Desert Island)
The Pufferfish is the first major difficulty spike. Prepare your arena and loadout before starting the fight. The quest wants the Pufferfish's distinct fin/trophy piece, not its meat chunks. Because community tactics are still stabilizing, save before the fight if possible and preserve any unusual-looking drop until the quest giver accepts it.
Late-game bosses
The Old Pike on Rock Island and the final boss on Volcano Island are less documented. The 'Easy' achievement requires killing a boss within 10 seconds, which is best attempted on the Spider Crab with a fully upgraded weapon. The 'Handyman' achievement requires defeating the final boss with your bare hands, a high-end challenge for completionists.
