What are rare and drip creatures?
How to Fish has two collection layers. First, every creature has a rare variant with a different color or texture. The Steam store description explicitly mentions 'Try to collect the rare variant of all the different fish,' and the 'Fishipedia' achievement asks you to find and kill all drip creatures.
How rare variants spawn
Rare variants can appear in the same locations as their normal counterparts. There is no confirmed way to force a rare spawn, so the practical method is to farm the creature's home island repeatedly. Keep an eye out for visual differences after reeling a catch in. Sell or cook the rare variant for a large payout once you have logged it.
Drip creatures and Fishipedia
Drip creatures are distinct from rare variants. Community research suggests at least 49 normal creature entries exist for collection purposes, but the full drip roster is still being verified. The 'Drip' achievement only requires killing one drip creature, while 'Fishipedia' requires killing all of them.
